Glossary Update and Other Things

Labor Day Weekend!

I recently finished a commission which I will post later this weekend.  Gotta give the commissioner a chance to read it first, after all! Not to mention, I seriously need to go to sleep!  I unfortunately didn’t finish Chapter 4 of Shinkon Shimai as I had hoped.  We’ll see how things go.

Right now, before I hit the sack, I wanted to let those (30 of you) who may be interested:  I uploaded revised SFX and Slang Glossaries… now available on my MediaFire folder.

It’s been just about 6 months since my last update.  I figured now would be a good time for another one!

Honorable Mention:  Darknight Translations

Gravure by URC

"Gravure" by URC

Real quick.  Some of you may have noticed a number of new translators listed on the PRODUCTION menu.  There’s a bunch of good ones, so please check ‘em out!  Here, I’m singling out Darknight Translations ‘coz he just translated one of my favorites:  URC’s “Gravure”.

This one’s a classic, and I’ve seen it translated before.  But it’s nice to see a fresh take on it.

I love Momoya Show Neko’s artwork, and her takes on Oogami and Maria of Sakura Taisen are total classics!

Sponsored Project: Gift – Chapter 2

I was hoping to post a couple of things tonight, but it looks like I’ll only be posting one.

I present to you chapter 2 of Gift by Higashiyama Show.

Azarius had a major bout with pneumonia, so it took a while for him to get this chapter done.   (Glad you recovered, Azarius!)

This chapter is sponsored by the editor, Azarius!   For the love and art of editing!

… And please, no more comments on Azarius’ choice of fonts.  Be thankful that he’s editing this for free!

A collective thanks to:  Pehu, Etery-chan, bmd6486, Zathael, GizmoTheGreen, Random guy, Lacerta, Barlam, and Mr. Teatime: Thanks for visiting and for all your kind words!  Hope you liked the new stuff.  Please look forward to more!

Editing Contest Winner!

*I knew I was forgetting something! ^_^;; *

Congratulations to FredL. for submitting the winning edit of pages 86-87 of Puri Puro.  FredL not only did an impressive job joining the image and filling in the gaps, but he also used a much better scan than the one I had

FredL’s prize is a script for a Doujin CG set (see pic below), which I believe is based on “Rosario+Vampire”.  You can download the raw file here (Megaporn link).

Congratulations, FredL.  I should have your script out next week!  Also, honorable mentions to SoyleB and Eddie for their impressive entries!

Updates, New Sponsored Project, Honorable Mention, and Editor Challenge…

… not necessarily in that order! ^_^;;

New Sponsored Project: Shinkon Shimai by Haru Wamusato

...

I had a few suggestions given to me for new sponsored projects. This one was suggested by bmd6486 (so you don’t go by smekt5? I thought you said you posted it? My error.) from Erotic Rapture forum (http://rapture.nyaatorrents.org). I’d join Rapture, but I belong to too many forums as it is. ^_^;;

Since I tend to lean towards harem/romantic comedy-type stories, I thank bmd6486 for recommending this one!

More info on my SPONSORED PROJECTS page!

Project Updates:

If this was a perfect world, I would’ve had at least Chapter 4 of Puri Puro posted today. Unfortunately, it’s not perfect, so I’m not posting it.

Besides working this weekend and doing double duty while my supervisor’s sick, I (for some reason) keep forgetting how crooked Puri Puro pages are.  I still consider the scans to be top-notched, ‘tho, in spite of this.  I know most of you couldn’t give a rip about how straight the pages are, but what can I say?  The artwork is too good to treat poorly.

This brings me to…

The Tonigobe Editor Challenge! (It’s a contest!)

The picture I’m posting shows pages 86-87 from Puri Puro, Chapter 3.  It kinda gives you an idea of how tilted the pages are. If I had time and energy, I would have liked to piece the two pages together and fill in the gap.  But as I was writing the draft of this post, I thought, “How about a contest?”

If you’re an editor out there with awesome skills to show off, here’s a challenge for you:  Piece the two pages by filling in the missing information, and do it seamlessly.   If I deem your edit to be the best among those submitted to me, I will translate (script only) the story of your choice (20 pages or less), so long as the subject matter is within the parameters of what I’m willing to translate.

SEE EDITOR CONTEST page for rules and info.

Honorable Mention: Commissioner Fayt Leingold & Kusanyagi’s Translations

Last but now least, a couple of honorable mentions.

Faytear is a commissioner who has his own blog of stuff he’s commissioned. He’s awaiting (patiently) for work he’s commissioned me to do, but he also has a few commissions done by the prolific Kusanyagi.

Kusanyagi’s Translation Corner really doesn’t need an introduction from me.  As I mentioned earlier, he’s a prolific translator who does a lot of commissions like Saha.

Anyhow, you can check out Fayt’s blog at  http://faytear.blogspot.com and Kusanyagi’s Translation Corner at http://kusanyagi.blogspot.com.

Tell them Tonigobe sent ya! ;-)

  • Lacerta and Zathael: Glad you guys liked the chapter. ^_^  Please look forward to chapter 6, coming soon!

New Project: Koe de Oshigoto… and a call out to available editors…

Thanks to Prim and his friends, Walker and ish, I have the raw scans (and very good scans, too, at first glance, if I may say!) of the first 4 chapters of this new Konno Azure serial, “Koe de Oshigoto” (Works with the voice).  Prim is hoping I (or somebody!) would have it as a project, of course… and I told him I’d probably post a rant about it this weekend… So I’m a bit early… Surprise! tenshi Also, thanks to Prim, you can find out more about the serial here.  Manga Updates also has a listing here .

It seems fun and interesting enough that I wouldn’t mind the undertaking it for free Weeeeellll.   (*begin advert warning* But if you’re interested in one of the projects on my Donor Projects page , please contribute. Contribute! Thank you! *shameless plug end*)  But with the other projects I have lined up including 2 Donor Project chapters (Thanks, JukanX!) it may be a few weeks or so before I could tackle both translating and editing it solo.  Hence, my call out to any available editors out there.

If you’re an available editor, or have some editing experience, or just someone who’s damn good at Photoshop, and have an earnest interest in this project, email me.  Send me a link (or links) of some of the previous work you’ve done.  If you haven’t done any editing, but have Photoshop and an earnest interest to learn… … …I may have to put together a test or something…  or you can {ahem} “borrow” {*hint*} Secret! one from another group (LOL!)… or better still, take some tips from DontHurt!  Anyhow, to reiterate, email me if your interested in editing this manga/series.  Thanks!

UPDATE:  FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 11:47PM.

I’ve got 2 volunteers!  Each one will be doing a chapter.  Now all I need to do is work on the script!  sigh (LOL!)

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:

JockeII,  GizmoTheGreen, Random Guy, and bozo:  UR Welcum!  Glad you liked it!  Please look forward to the next chapter.

Something for the Editor’s Corner…or, “What’s my onomatopoeia, again?”

Instead of editing today (I’m still in the middle of Chapter 6 for the revised ♭37℃. , humpty!), I ended up working on another project. Namely, a working “dictionary” (of sorts) for Japanese SFXs.

Previously, I’ve been working with an HTML file that I originally downloaded from here . But after months of difficulty working with the awkward set-up (it looks great on the web, but terrible to edit and update!), I decided (just today! out of frustration!) to create something more basic and easier for me to edit and use; one that I can edit while I’m actually editing and translating a manga. After transfering text from web-page to MS Word, the final result is this PDF which other noob translators and editors (and other curious people) can download.

My original, grand idea was to make some sort of interactive web page (Hah! Dream on!). Luckily, I finally smartened up some: I made something more practical and easy for me to use. It’s also something I can convert to a small PDF for others to use.

This “list of SFXs” is a work in progress. I will add more definitions as time goes on. I also hope to hear from others who wish to help contribute; I gladly give credit (or blame! XD) wherever it’s due. Japanese onomatopoeia has different meanings for different situations, not to mention new ones pop up as created by the mangakas themselves. So, there is much that can be added and revised.

Well, back to editing. I hope to have a new translation out by next week (along with Chapter 6 of ♭37℃ for humpty to review). In the meantime, I thank you all for your patience!

(And thanks to 2Hip and WWOEC for the smilies!)
